SFP Optics
The small form-factor pluggable specification, or SFP, is an optical modular transceiver design that supports a leading generation of networks. The design allows SFP optics to work with small form factor connectors and provides hot-swappable functionality paired with increased density and high-speed improvements.
SFP optics can perform at speeds of up to 5 Gbps, while there are tests and particular deployments that are pushing beyond these speed caps. Network operators are choosing a variety of SFP optics for their growth because they are interchangeable and support fiber optic, as well as electro-optical, network upgrades.
Replacement and maintenance are also more straightforward thanks to the hot-swappable design, allowing you to pull and replace a receiver while performing repairs or an update.
