XFP Optics
The XFP optics standard is for a 10 Gigabit small form-factor pluggable composition for transceivers that can be used in telecom networks, high-speed computer networks and other links relying on an optical fiber. If you have XFP gear, you need XFP transceivers.
XFP optics are protocol-independent, making them a perfect tool for just about any network out there. They’re also hot-swappable and will support 10 Gigabit Ethernet, Fibre Channel, OC-192 SONET, STM-64, 10 Gbps OTN OTU-2 and in concert with wavelength-division multiplexing.

- SR – 850 nanometers supporting a maximum of 300 meters
- LR – 1310 nanometers supporting distances of up to 10 kilometers
- ER – 1550 nanometers supporting distances of up to 40 kilometers
- ZR – 1550 nanometers supporting distances of up to 80 kilometers
Specifications within XFP optics can support 8 Gbps and 16 Gbps speeds on Ethernet and FC.
