Choosing XFP Transceivers Over Other Equipment
Optical XFP equipment has adopted the standard even though these XFP transceivers are slightly larger than SFP options because they house larger heat sinks and can perform more cooling. An XFI single lane can run at 10.3125 Gbit/s when the 64B/66B encoding scheme is applied. The downside, however, is that extension through the XFP is slightly shorter.
