Last year, the Federal Communications Commission authorized 10 telecommunications carriers (AT&T, Cincinnati Bell, CenturyLink, Consolidated Communications, Fairpoint Communications, Frontier Communications, Hawaiian Telcom, Micronesian Telecom, Verizon and Windstream Communications) to receive nearly $9 billion for rural broadband deployment projects via Phase II of the Connect America Fund.
Together with the carrier’s own investment, the project is delivering faster broadband speeds to nearly 7.3 million rural / underserved consumers and businesses in 45 states over the next six years.
Broadband OEM Inventory and Delivery Problems
In order to maintain their funding, these Tier 1 telecoms are required to meet a federally mandated project implementation timetable.
But the traditional broadband equipment OEMs are plagued with inventory and delivery problems, potentially jeopardizing these telecoms’ federal funding.
In stark contrast, inventory is widely available from secondary hardware markets offering same- or next-day delivery of the same high demand current- and previous-generation telecommunications equipment.
Worldwide Supply, the leading global secondary market equipment and service provider, is actively supplying Tier I telecom carriers with new and / or pre-owned, fully-guaranteed telecommunications products.
As a result, our Tier 1 customers’ CAF-II installations are both on time and under budget.
