SMC

New and Used SMC Switches

SMC Networks was started in 1971 to build a variety of new, low-cost solutions for a growing telecommunications market. As the industry moved more toward data, the company developed two distinct product families designed for home and small business networking as well as managed and unmanaged switches for enterprises, corporations and network companies.

You can find a variety of SMC EZ Connect tools in small offices, while its Tiger Switch, Stack and Eliteconnect systems are designed for corporate and workgroup needs.

In 1997, SMC became a subsidiary of Accton Technology, which used its silicon and manufacturing expertise to expand the company’s reach into large-scale deployments. SMC was part of the spin-off and is now an Edgecore product family. New equipment bearing the SMC brand is more in line with small business usage, while Edgecore branding represents more recent enterprise and service provider-capable solutions.

The company offers a variety of new fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet Plus switches as well as standalone 50-port models with managed Layer 2 capabilities that scale up to 4 Gigabit combo ports.
